Myo first experienced the joys of music creation in 2013, rapping and writing hooks with his friend Aubrey. In 2014-2015, Myo decided to further his newfound interest by auditing a few music classes at his alma mater, Middlebury College in Vermont. Around this time Myo became a fledgeling producer, creating his first fully original compositions.
In 2015, Myo was at a friend's house in Garberville, California with some free time on his hands. He picked up a bedraggled guitar with a broken string. Sitting outside by the pool amidst the redwoods was the idyllic setting where Myo taught himself the basic chord shapes. Myo is left-handed, and the guitar was strung right handed. Learning the chords that way, he never looked back, and has been playing the guitar upside down ever since.
Learning the guitar kicked off a creative period that lasted through 2022. During that time, creating music is just what Myo did for fun. He didn't concern himself with releasing it. In 2023 Myo had a few dreams where he learned it may be a good idea to polish off and release all his old music spanning multiple computers.
His first release, Back to the Temple, was the easiest proposition, since it was just what was on his current computer from August 2022, when it was purchased, through November 2022. Music on past computers will likely prove more challenging, but Myo believes he is up to the task!
Myo's has been an unorthodox musical journey, but it's been both fun and rewarding.
Myo and his friend Aubrey write hooks and rap together. This is Myo's first experience writing music that's not experimental or just an idea saved for later.
Myo audits his first music class at alma mater Middlebury College, in Vermont, where audits are free for alumni. He takes one semester of Music Theory, and two semesters of Music Composition with professor Su Tan.
Myo teaches himself guitar chord shapes on a friend's guitar. The guitar is strung right-handed, but Myo is left handed, so he plays it uside down. Myo has never looked back and plays right handed guitars upside down to this day.
With intermittent breaks, Myo writes, records and produces songs for fun. None of the songs are released, and most are left in an unfinished state. During the span of their creation, Myo is not convinced he will ever release these songs.
Myo has a habit of taking advice from dreams. In 2023, he has dreams that show him it may be a good idea to release all his music, including the older stuff on old computers.
After gathering, producing, and making some additions to songs from mid-August thru November 2022, Myo's debut album, the double-album Back to the Temple, is released.
